SUMMARY:PSRP Researcher Presenting: Protracted Crises
DESCRIPTION:PSRP Director Christine Bell will speak on ‘Responding to Protracted Crises’ as part of the British Academy conference on ‘Protracted Crises’ in London on Friday 3rd June\, 2016. \nThe conference will aim to discuss whether\, particularly in the light of the World Humanitarian Summit\, traditional crisis and conflict responses are fit for purpose and if not\, what needs to change. It will look to discuss the features of protracted crises and why they are a matter of growing concern. It will explore whether protracted crises are becoming more prevalent today and if so why\, and how such crises evolve (and stagnate)\, and the implications of that for conflict transformation efforts\, in particular the differing humanitarian\, developmental\, political and military lenses that such crises and conflicts can be viewed through. \nSessions at the conference will include the dynamics of protracted crises; responding to protracted crises; case studies on Nepal\, South Sudan\, Nagorno-Karabakh and Central African Republic; and\, policy and operational conclusions \nDownload the full agenda with all the confirmed speakers here. \nTo register for the conference please contact Philip Lewis at p.lewis@britac.ac.uk. \nWhen registering please state which of the four case studies on Nepal\, Central African Republic\, Nagorno-Karabakh and South Sudan you would like to attend\, as these will be taking place simultaneously from 13.45 to 15.00 in parallel sessions. If no preference is expressed a session will be allocated to you. \n  \nSource and photo credit: British Academy \n
