SUMMARY:Post-Conflict Constitution Building and Political Settlements
DESCRIPTION:This event is the second workshop on the theme of post-conflict constitution building.  Having examined the role of interim constitutions last year\, as we were preparing for our programme\, this year we examine ‘pre-constitutional political settlements’\, looking at how the political settlement and balance of power between elites\, shapes the type of constitution which results\, we attempt to understand how other internal and external actors can influence the outcome.  This event is hosted by International IDEA\, the Edinburgh Centre for Constitutional Law\, and the Global Justice Academy in association with the Political Settlements Research Programme.  It forms a valuable forum for interchange between academics\, practitioners and policy-makers. The event will take place at Edinburgh School of Law\, on 3-4 December 2015. \n
