DESCRIPTION:The Political Settlements Research Programme is pleased to announce that Fionnuala Ní Aoláin from the Transitional Justice Institute at the University of Ulster will speak on ‘Occupation\, Gender and Transitional Justice’  at the talk\, ‘Bridging Theory and Practice: Gender and Transitional Justice’. The workshop part of the the Georgetown Institute for Women\, Peace and Security’s Bridging Theory and Practice workshop series\, an aspects of their International Consortium initiative. \nAs part of the Bridging Theory and Practice series\, the Institute convenes top experts\, researchers and practitioners from a wide range of disciplines to discuss timely global issues with major implications for the women\, peace and security agenda. \nTransitional justice is a critical component to strengthening democracy\, human rights and the rule of law post-conflict\, as well as an integral element of the peacebuilding agenda. Understanding the needs of women and girls in post-conflict is essential to enabling the transformative potential of transitional justice.
