SUMMARY:National Action Plans on Women\, Peace and Security: What is the experience on the ground?
DESCRIPTION:What are National Action Plans and how can they foster the implementation of the Women\, Peace and Security agenda in the African context? The WILPF webinar will look into the progress in implementing the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 through National Action Plans\, using the case studies of the DRC\, Nigeria and Cameroon. \nSome activists and policymakers see National Action Plans as useful tools for the localization of the Women\, Peace and Security agenda at the national and community levels\, while for others the plans are only “fairy-tale compliance.” After the discussion on opportunities and risks National Action Plans may create\, WILPF grassroots activists will share their first-hand experiences from the DRC and Nigeria\, where the plans have already been adopted\, and Cameroon where the plan is in preparation. \nSpeakers:\nProf. Aisling Swaine (WILPF Academic Network)\nDr. Abigail Ruane (Women\, Peace and Security Programme of WILPF/PeaceWomen)\nJoy Onyesoh (WILPF Nigeria)\nAnnie Mbambi (WILPF DRC)\nSylvie Ndongmo (WILPF Cameroon) \nSign up via GoToWebinar \n  \nSource: WILPF \n
