SUMMARY:Making Transitional Justice Work for Women
DESCRIPTION:PSRP team member Catherine O’Rourke will be a keynote speaker at the conference ‘A Gendered Approach to Constitution Building’\, in Beirut on the 3rd-4th of March. Organized by the Euromed Feminist Initiative in partnership with Equal Citizenship Center from Damascus\, the event will take place in the framework of the program: “Supporting transition towards democracy in Syria through preparing for an engendered constitution building process”. \nCatherine will speak at the session “Making transitional justice work for women” that will take place on the second day at 14.30 – 16.30. This session investigates women’s priorities in the transitional justice context and the obstacles that prevent them from accessing justice and human rights. Moreover\, it will discuss how strategic litigation can establish important legal precedents or effect meaningful changes in legislation\, policy or practice for women’s rights. \nThis is an invitation-only event.  \n
