SUMMARY:Conceptualising and Measuring the Success and Failure of Political Settlements
DESCRIPTION:A Global Justice Academy Lab Event \nThe Political Settlements Research Programme (of which the GJA is a lead partner) (www.politicalsettlements.org)\, and the Edinburgh Centre for Constitutional Law are housing a round table\, on 3 September 2015\, 2.00pm\, Lorimer Room\, School of Law\, Old College\, South Bridge\, Edinburgh. \nConceptualising and Measuring the Success and Failure of Political Settlements: Constitutions and Peace Agreements \nThis round table will examine how we might understand and measure ‘success and failure’ in implementing constitutions and peace agreements.  Are these documents susceptible to measurement\, what are the appropriate indicators or evidence that could be used\, and how feasible is to gather this evidence (in what form does it exist)?   The round table will comprise input from three academics actively involved in trying to design projects of measurement for constitutions and peace-agreements. \nEach of the speakers will speak to why measurement might be important\, what measurements might be useful\, and set out innovative attempts to measure\, and the conceptual and practical difficulties they are thinking through in these attempts. \nThe roundtable is a part of an on-going ‘Evidence\, Indicators and Measurement lab’\, hosted by the GJA which aims to network those with research projects which examine the process of measuring.  If you would like to have your project reflected on the GJA website\, and be part of this network please contact globaljustice@ed.ac.uk \nThank you to register on eventbrite. \n \n
