SUMMARY:Understanding the Burundian crisis from various perspectives
DESCRIPTION:PSRP member\, Astrid Jamar\, has organised a Seminar on the Burundian Crisis with the Sussex Africa Center. As a panel discussion\, it will gather a number of interdisciplinary scholars based in the UK and in Burundi to address the political\, social and economic implications of the crisis. \nUnderstanding the Burundian crisis from various perspectives \n– Introducing the Burundian crisis and its regional implications – Dr Devon Curtis (University of Cambridge \n– Fighting for democracy: politics and risks behind social mobilisation’ – Astrid Jamar (University of Edinburgh) \n– Experiencing the crisis: ‘Ordinary people’\, public services\, and the economy- Jean-Benoît Falisse (University of Oxford) \n– Looking forward: what ways out? – René-Claude Niyonkuru \n  \nThe Seminar will conclude with a drink at the Dhaba to launch Astrid’s photography display of her fieldwork in the Great Lake Region. \n
